This journal highlights my normal use of media in a 24 hour period.  I tend to use media a lot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6:00 AM \u2013 My alarm on my iPhone went off. I turned off the alarm and got out of bed. I rarely need to hit the snooze button. I rely on my iPhone to keep accurate time. It has always been reliable, even when the time changes for Daylight Savings Time or for a different time zone such as when I went to Hawaii for a vacation. My iPhone automatically changed to the local time. My iPhone is reliable and credible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I normally do not look at anything on my iPhone when I wake up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6:05 AM \u2013 I turned on my podcast on Spotify using my iPhone. I listen to a podcast each morning while I get ready for the day. Today, I listened to Leo Skepi, host of Aware and Aggravated. The episode was about \u201cReleasing Your Fear of Judgment.\u201d While the podcast is one hour long, I listened to 25 minutes. I learned that while you may think that someone is saying something or thinking negative about you, the person may actually be admiring you. An example that was used was a person sitting and eating by himself in a restaurant. When you look at the person, you think that he is confident and wish you have confidence to sit and eat alone. In reality, no one is looking at the person. I do not feel that I need to check sources since it is an opinion. I never thought about whether it was credible. I guess it depends on the person. I have sat in a restaurant alone and it does not bother me. I plan to continue to listen to Leo Skepi. I enjoy his advice and find it very useful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6:35 AM \u2013 I set the timer on my iPhone for 6 minutes while I made hard boiled eggs. I have checked recipes online to determine what the best recommended time to cook hard boiled eggs. The recipes vary from 5, 6, or 7 minutes. Some recipes recommend leaving the eggs in hot water while other recipes suggest removing the hot water and adding cold water. Six minutes usually works perfectly for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6:41 AM \u2013 I turned the timer on my iPhone off when my alarm rang. As I indicated earlier, I rely on my iPhone to be accurate. I have not had any issues with my timer on my iPhone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6:45 AM \u2013 I accessed Netflix on my phone and watched \u201cDaredevil\u201d. The show was about a man who went blind when he was young due to being exposed to poisonous gas. The main character, Matt Murdock, is an attorney who relies on his other senses, mainly his hearing to determine if someone is lying or guilty of a crime during the trial. The show is fictional, and I watch it for entertainment. I rarely check for any credibility issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7:00 AM \u2013 I checked my ASU email on my iPhone to see if I had any new messages. Since I am signed up for The New York Times, I receive a lot of emails. I read the subject line; however, I rarely open the email. One headline \u201cA Hiring Binge Abroad.\u201d I am not planning on moving outside the United States so I do not open the link. I received a confirmation that my assignment submission was posted. I do not check further to confirm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7:01 AM \u2013 I checked SnapChat on my iPhone to see if I had a message from my boyfriend. My boyfriend sent a \u201cGood Morning\u201d message. I responded with my \u201cGood Morning\u201d message.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7:03 AM \u2013 I checked my Instagram feed. I saw a lot of posts about people having babies. Did you know that Justin Bieber had a baby? He had a baby boy that he named Jack Blues Bieber. I do not confirm the validity of the post since it does not personally affect my life. I hope his baby is healthy. Congratulations, Justin!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7:15 AM \u2013 I used the GPS on my iPhone to get directions to drive to work at Starbucks. I use Waze. Supposedly, Waze is owned by Google. I never checked. I like Waze because it has real-time information about traffic and police presence. I do not like Waze when it sends me through small streets and requires me to make left turns in heavy traffic.\u00a0 I have compared Waze to Google Maps and both software platforms are accurate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7:30 AM \u2013 I used the Starbuck\u2019s iPad to clock in for my shift. I compared the time on the iPad to my iPhone. The time agreed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9:30 AM \u2013 My break \u2013 I used my iPhone to google how to make a Strawberry Acai Lemonade with Vanilla after one of my Starbuck\u2019s customers recommended the drink. There were different options available. It depends on a person\u2019s preference which recipe is best. I will experiment to determine which recipe I prefer. I tend to use a lot of vanilla. My drink is usually sweeter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

12:45 PM – I used the Starbuck\u2019s iPad to clock out after completing my shift. I compared the time on the iPad to my iPhone. The time agreed. I worked approximately 5 hours. I should probably compare my time to my pay; however, I usually do not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1:00 PM\u2013 I used the GPS on my iPhone to get directions to drive home after working my shift at Starbucks. I have different options for routes to take. I usually select the route that is fastest. I like using Waze rather than just following the routes I know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2:00 PM \u2013 I googled on my iPhone to learn how to set up my new starlight projector<\/a> that I purchased at Home Depot on my way home from Starbucks. It\u2019s a great deal at under $20. While I have LED lights around the perimeter of my room, this small LED Laser Projector makes me feel like I am sleeping outside under the stars. It is very relaxing. I looked at the ratings, which are not positive. Only about 50% of purchasers like the projector. Many people complained that their projector broke or the remote did not work. I wonder if the positive 5 star reviews are accurate or if the reviewers were paid for their positive reviews. Time will tell. I hope my projector works for awhile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I logged on to my new Lenovo Yoga laptop<\/a> to ASU Online<\/a> to access my class material for MCO 427 \u2013 Misinformation and Society. Normally I check my classes a few times a day so I do not miss an assignment. If I miss a deadline, then I will receive a \u201c0\u201d. I want to try and prevent getting any zero\u2019s!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I followed the link for Module 2 and I read the material watched the various videos.\u00a0 I like the Verification Handbook because it provides interesting information. I also like the name since it appears that the information is reliable. I looked at the sources of some of the links. The Digital Journalism appears to be a reliable source. The International Journal of Communication also appears to be a reliable source. Another article is from Google\u2019s research team, which should also be a reliable source. One link, \u201cThe YouTuber Who Blew the Whistle on an Anti-Vax Plot by BBC could have some reliable information; however, I doubt that any disruption was caused by one person on YouTube.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5:45 PM \u2013 I took a break, put my FitBit on my wrist and went for a walk. The FitBit is reliable and accurately measures the time and distance that I walk. I am required to upload each exercise session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While I was walking, I listened to another podcast episode on Spotify, Resetting How Social Media Makes You Feel by Leo Skepi, from Aware and Aggravated on my iPhone. This is a subjective topic so I did not check the reliability. I listen to Leo Skepi because I enjoy his enthusiasm for life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6:20 PM \u2013 I reviewed my notes from MCO 427 \u2013 Misinformation and Society. I noticed that I have a Quiz 1 due on Sunday, March 30, 2025. I set a reminder on my iPhone so that I do not forget about the quiz and receive a zero. I feel that my iPhone reminder is accurate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7:00 PM \u2013 I decided to make pasta for dinner. I used my iPhone to set the timer for 10 minutes after the water started boiling. My timer on my iPhone is reliable. I did not check any recipes since I have cooked pasta numerous times in the past. I like my pasta Al dente, which means that it is firm and not soggy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7:02 PM – While I was making dinner, I watched Netflix on my iPhone and continued to watch \u201cDaredevil\u201d which I started watching during my breakfast. I watched two more episodes while I cooked and then ate my pasta salad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7:45 PM \u2013 While I took a shower, I listened to my playlist on Spotify on my iPhone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8:10 PM \u2013 I searched NetFlix for a movie to watch on my TV. I found \u201cThe Greatest Showman.\u201d It is about the creation of Barnum and Bailey Circus, the Greatest Show on Earth. I am sure there are some exaggerations, but I enjoy watching the show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10:30 PM \u2013 I set my alarm for 6 AM on my iPhone. My iPhone alarm is accurate and there is no reason to check it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10:31 PM \u2013 I sent a good night message to my boyfriend on SnapChat on my iPhone<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I enjoy using various forms of media. Media brings happiness into my daily life. Upon reflecting on my media usage, I access a wide range of platforms, including Snapchat, Netflix, Spotify, Instagram, and Google. Some platforms and posts are more reliable than other posts. I think each item should be reviewed for accuracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I rely on digital media for both information and entertainment. Whether I am streaming a new series on Netflix, discovering new music on Spotify, or catching up on the latest trends and news via Instagram and Google, media plays a central role in keeping me informed and entertained. The variety and accessibility of these platforms make them an essential part of my everyday life, allowing me to explore different perspectives and stay updated. I think it is important that disinformation be easily recognized, which is not always the case. I feel when a site ends in .edu or .org the information is more credible and reliable. I realize that many sites are user-driven and may not be accurate, but I use some sites more for social contact rather than for information.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
